Welcome to the HIC website.

HIC is made up of a small group of friends who get together annually (or whenever there is a good evening on at the local pub!) and talk about their home-made wines.

We live in a small village in the Vale of Evesham surrounded by Plum, Damson, Pear and Apple orchards and market gardening farms. Local farm shops sell much of this produce cheaply and at a much better quality than the supermarkets. The fertile soil of the Vale also means that the hedgerows are rich providers of Blackberries, Rose hips, Nettles and other good wine ingredients.

It would seem a terrible waste if we didn't try our best to turn as much of this, cheap or free stuff into wine.

Once a year - or more if we feel like it - we get together to test taste each other's home brewing efforts and there is a small cup awarded to the most drinkable. This is, of course, the much coveted HIC Cup! (Yes folks - its a joke!)

So the lofty aim of this little dedicated (mostly) band of liver-abusers is the pursuit of "Cheap, tasty booze"!

On this site we hope to share with you our tried and tested recipes and tips for home-winemaking. This is a British site - so any weights and measures will be Metric or Imperial - or downright odd as the recipes came from Granny's Granny on the back of an envelope and no one dares alter them as then they may not work!
